A Note on the Yoke Hill Experience

During periods of hot weather, we understand the natural desire to cool off, enjoy the water and spend time outdoors. However, YokeHill is not a general recreational lake or splash venue.

YokeHill is a peaceful open-water swimming space, created for calm, respectful swimming in nature. To protect the experience for swimmers, visitors and the surrounding environment, we ask everyone to observe the following site rules.

Please respect the tranquillity of the lake

This is a quiet swimming environment. Loud behaviour, splashing around, disruptive play, inflatables, roughhousing or general tomfoolery are not suitable for YokeHill. If you are looking for a place for noisy water play or a family splash session, our lake will not be the right venue.

Dogs and pets

Dogs and other pets are not permitted around the lake, on the bankside, or in the wider surrounding land. The land is not suitable for dog walking and pets must not be brought onto the swimming areas.

If you choose to bring a pet with you, you remain fully responsible for its welfare at all times. YokeHill does not accept responsibility for any animal left in a vehicle, including during hot weather. Please make safe and appropriate arrangements before visiting.

Swimmer privacy

To preserve the calm and privacy of swimmers, spectators are not permitted on the bankside. Spectators must remain at the café or on the outdoor terrace unless otherwise directed by a member of staff.

Age limits

Swimming is for those aged 16 and over only. This is for safety, supervision and insurance reasons.

Children on site

Children attending as spectators must remain in the cafe or terrace and be supervised on a strict 1:1 basis by a responsible adult at all times. If you are swimming, another adult must be present and responsible for supervising your child.

Our lifeguards are responsible for water safety. They are not able to supervise children who are not swimming.

Café access during swim sessions

During some swim sessions, the café may close while swimming is taking place. This is because the lifeguard may also be responsible for café operations unless a second staff member is present.
