We're sorry
The lake water levels are simply not high enough at the moment to deliver the fantastic swimming experience you've come to expect from YokeHill.
Like many natural lakes across the UK, our water levels rely on nature to replenish them. Unlike a swimming pool, we can't simply turn on a tap and fill it back up.
Our lake is naturally recharged by a combination of groundwater & rainfall. During prolonged periods of warm, dry weather, evaporation increases significantly while very little rainfall makes its way back into the lake. This means the water level gradually drops until we receive enough sustained rainfall for nature to restore the balance.
Whilst we know this is disappointing, protecting both the lake and your swimming experience is our priority. Rather than opening when conditions aren't at their best, we'd rather wait until the water returns to a level that allows us to offer the safe, enjoyable and peaceful open water swimming that YokeHill is all about.
The good news is that this is a natural cycle, and once we receive consistent rainfall, the lake will begin to recover.
For those of you who have recently purchased swimming sessions, we are currently processing refunds, so there's nothing you need to do. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
We truly appreciate your patience, understanding and continued support. We know many of you are as eager as we are to get back into the water, and we'll keep you updated as soon as conditions improve.
Thank you for sticking with us. We hope to see you back at the lake very soon.
